If weconstantly search for what’s wrong in our environment, we’re certain to find it, and moreover, attract more negative experiences. Murphy, Joseph (August 2010). The miracle of your mind. Mansfield Centre, CT. ISBN 978-1-57898-959-1. OCLC 881382578. {{ cite book}}: CS1 maint: location missing publisher ( link)

She spotted a terribly fashionable and lovely exclusive Louis Vuitton purse, and almost couldn't peel her nose off the display. The problem with exclusive purses is that they are expensive (if not simply overpriced if you ask me). The girl could not afford it. But don't you worry! Believe you already have it. Imagine it. Like, really imagine the purse is yours. He first draws on the examples of two types of people; that which he calls the magnetised man, who’s full of confidence and courage and the demagnetised man, who’s full of fear and doubt. The subconscious mind of the universe is one, wait what!? No! It's your own actions that are caused as a result of the subconscious or maybe even the conscious decisions towards a goal that makes things come to pass and not others'.Dr. Joseph Murphy explains that life events are actually the result of the workings of your conscious and subconscious minds. He suggests practical techniques through which one can change one's destiny, principally by focusing and redirecting this miraculous energy. Years of research studying the world's major religions convinced him that some Great Power lay behind all spiritual life and that this power is within each of us. If you are a strong believer of God and have infinite faith this might be just the perfect book for you. While I respect the contents of this book abiding to the faith or beliefs of people and while I don't mean to refute it, I just feel this book is a little absurd and does nothing except make you lazy. Believing is good, it is the stepping stone to progress but that's not just it.

Murphy, Joseph (1964). The miracle of mind dynamics: a new way to triumphant living. New York, N.Y.: Reward Books. ISBN 0-13-585398-2. OCLC 52489851.I love the concept of using your imagination to change your life. It makes a lot of sense to me and appeals to the creative me. One of my favourite literature quotes is, 'I like them to talk nonsense. That is man's one privilege over all creation.' I love that there is no limit to what our minds can do. And to harness that power to alter one's life for the better is a truly inspiring idea. That being said, the overall delivery of the book was a bit off. It's heavily religious, with plenty of references to God and bible verses. The chapter on marriage was a bit of a tough one for me because it's all about praying with your husband/wife and there's zero consideration of atypical unions. That bothered me a lot, particularly with our country set to vote to give homosexuals the same marriage rights as heterosexuals. It's pretty important to me that their rights be recognised by society, so this chapter was a bit of salt in the wound. In the mid-1940s, he moved to Los Angeles, where he met Religious Science founder Ernest Holmes, and was ordained into Religious Science by Holmes in 1946, thereafter teaching at Rochester, New York, and later at the Institute of Religious Science in Los Angeles. A meeting with Divine Science Association president Erwin Gregg led to him being re ordained into Divine Science, and he became the minister of the Los Angeles Divine Science Church in 1949, which he built into one of the largest New Thought congregations in the country. [ citation needed] Note – This is perhaps why positive thinking on top ofnegative beliefs won’t work. We must break the stranglehold of negative thoughts first for the following techniques to be effective.] React and think in a new way. You want to be peaceful, happy, radiant, healthy, prosperous, and inspired; therefore, from this moment forward you must refuse to identify with negative thoughts which tend to drag you down.” Joseph Denis Murphy (May 20, 1898– December 16, 1981) was an Irish author and New Thought minister, ordained in Divine Science and Religious Science. The antidote to this, he recommends, is self-observation, where our attention, rather than being fixed on externals, is directed inwards. To be fair, much of this suggestion takes a form of protection and our parents’ desire to reduce the emotional impact of failure. Forsuccess, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side-effect of one’s personal dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of one’s surrender to a person other than oneself.” Get a new blueprint; build silently by realizing peace, harmony, joy, and good will in the present moment.”
